The Ennis Players are currently in rehearsal for their next production which is 'Calendar Girls'. Based on a true story of eleven Women's Institute members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund, it was written as a screenplay by Tim Firth and Juliette Towhidi,  and produced as a film in 2003. Calendar Girls was adapted as a stage play in 2008 and opened at the Chichester Festival Theatre and has since become the fastest selling play in British theatre history.

Directed by Allen Flynn, Calendar Girls will open in Glor, Ennis on Wednesday, March 26th and run until Saturday, March 29th, 2014, with the net proceeds benefitting four charities, namely, Cahercalla Hospice; Alzeheimers Day Care Centre, Ennis; Slainte An Chlair, Cancer Centre and West  Clare Cancer Centre.
