Preparations underway for Supper Theatre

Monday, November 21, 2016 to Thursday, November 24, 2016

Readings for two 1-Act plays took place on Oct. 4th in the Old Ground hotel, Split Ends, a hilarious comedy by Frank Vickery will be directed by Helen Forde and The Bear by Anton Chekhov will be directed by Paul Corey.

Split Ends tells the story of Nancy and Cyril who are to meet their son's girlfriend, Susan. Cyril, naturally bald, goes into hiding when his wig disappears, and reappears in disguise. Further problems emerge when Susan loses a contact lens in the salad & Cyril end up on his way to hospital wearing a dead kitten on his head.

The Bear is one of Chekhov's lesser known plays & is a farce with fast-paced, biting dialogue, accidently broken furniture & exaggerated emotions that quickly turn into their opposite. This three-character drama resembles an act from a vaudeville.

Now in its 31st year Supper Theatre is a cherished institution with Ennis theatre goers and this year will run from Monday 21st - Thursday  24th November in the Old Ground hotel. With two hilarious comedies on offer this promised to be a side-splitting evening & the perfect antidote to the winter blues.
